Getting to Know Fortune Creek

Thanks for taking a moment to visit Fortune Creek! I’m looking forward to sharing our story with you—one that dates back to 1981. The ranch, and its history, has been a lifelong hub for country living in more ways than one. At Fortune Creek, my family and I love to put our hearts and souls into everything we do; we are lucky to be surrounded by a great team who feels the same way.

Country Roots

Originally founded as a horse training establishment, Fortune Creek has always been passionate about training, and the relationship we created with, horses. Growing up, I loved how my family cherished the special relationship we had with the animals, while giving them the respect and care they needed. We trained problem horses that others had given up on. My Grandfather taught us that horses always tell the truth; that to train a horse you, first, need to train yourself to listen.

My family took pride in country living and passing the values of hard work, integrity, quality, and good food down to the younger generation. For me, it wasn’t all work; there was always play that still brings that nostalgia to Fortune Creek to this day. Some of my favorite memories were picking raspberries from the garden for fresh raspberry jam with my grandparents, training horses, and feeding our hungry cowboys (an extension of our family) at dinner. All of this makes me thankful for family and is a reminder to celebrate the simple things life has to offer.

Back to Basics

Fortune Creek has always signified hard work, good food made from family recipes, and the memories you make by pulling the two together. Drawing from those life lessons, we have branched out from training horses into sharing those Fortune Creek values with you. We started making candy, pies, and sausages using our family recipes that we sold at local farmers’ markets—slowly we grew a following; more than what we expected! However, as we continue to grow, there is one principal we will not compromise on-quality. We only use fresh ingredients and create our recipes with the upmost care.

A Bright Future

One thing I love about the Fortune Creek family is our determination to show each other how to be appreciative and grateful to the small details in life, along with good food, good people, and the gift of laughter. While thinking about the next steps for Fortune Creek, I always find my family’s philosophy to be a moral compass, not only for me but for the ranch too. We decided that we would take Fortune Creek online to share this philosophy.

Over time the ranch has developed dozens of different recipes and we could not be happier to share them. Everything from sausages to pies to peanut brittle to sweet and savoury is available in Fortune Creek’s gift boxes. We knew that now was the right time to make the next step in bringing more organic and naturally produced products to the giftbox industry. We can’t always take people to the ranch, but we can bring the ranch to the people. We’ll see you soon!
